Holy damn, the things I write when I'm half asleep...
Don't even relate to my point. ;A;!
...This is reflected in ‘Great Atomic Power,’ where there is a quote which states “Will you shout or will you cry when the fire rains from on high? Are you ready for the great atomic power?” As this song was directed towards a Western, American audience, the biblical reference followed by the rhetorical question would have been easily understood by the audience. The biblical reference in “fire rains from on high” refers to the story of Elijah, where Elijah challenges those who defy the teachings of God. At one point in the story, with the help of God sending fire from heaven, Elijah is able to set fire to a sacrifice by praying to God- an act the offenders could not accomplish. As the leaders of the United States believed they were being guided by God, it can be identified that they represent Elijah whilst those who challenged God; namely Japan, witnessed the fire falling from the heaven- symbolic of the dropping of the atomic bomb on Hiroshima. Thus, I'm kinda screwed for tomorrow.
I just removed about 300 words from my essay thingy in a time of desperation. ;A;
...
There are 5 'God's
and
4 'Elijah's.

Goodluck! Oh, the things you write when you're half-asleep, are always funny to read in the latter.
ReplyDeleteI know, right?!
ReplyDeleteI was half-asleep whilst doing maths a while ago and wrote something along the lines of x equals 1 over 'wipe the windows, please.' OTL
